Home Page Stories
In 1922, U.S. Rotarians organised an attendance contest; the challenge was that the losing clubs would join in giving the winning club a prize.
The Rotary Club of New York City was declared the winner and to them was awarded as a prize a bell from a popular patrol boat, which was placed on wood that came from HMS "Victory", Admiral Nelson's vessel at the battle of Trafalgar.
Since then, the bell used in Rotary meetings started to represent, as on the ships, order, discipline and the time to guide us through the weekly hour and a half meetings. The bell informs us with its sound the beginning of the Rotary meeting and at the closure of the regular club meeting.

As she built her career, Brenda demonstrated her passion for local and international community service and social responsibility through organizations such as Lions,
Shriners and Rotary. In 2020 she also founded a non-profit supporting hundreds of families after the Beirut port explosion.
Flanking Brenda in the picture is Kathrine Hahn, Governor, Rotary District 6330 and John Robinson, Club President.

LONDON-LAMBETH ROTARY CLUB AGAIN HOSTS
THE HARVESTFEST PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Once again, for their 28th consecutive year, the London-Lambeth Rotary Club hosted the Pancake Breakfast on Lambeth’s Harvestfest weekend. In all, there were about 370 people served. The Club would like to thank the Lambeth Harvestfest Committee for once again providing Rotary with this annual opportunity to serve the Lambeth community.
The Lambeth Rotarians would also like to thank Rob Annable of the Village Pantry for providing the scrumptious sausages; Lambeth’s Tim Hortons for providing the coffee; Clarke’s Maple Syrup for providing the real maple syrup to make the pancakes tasty; and the Thompson’s of Can-Am RV Centre for providing the portable cooking grills and the trailer awning to keep the cooks dry during the rain. All these generous donations allowed Rotary to hand over even more of the breakfast proceeds to the Harvestfest Committee for use in next year’s Harvestfest.

The Club also participated in the parade with a float promoting Rotarys new motto THE MAGIC OF ROTARY.

THE LAMBETH LIGHTS HAVE ARRIVED!

Last spring, the Rotary Club of London-Lambeth kicked off a community-wide fund-raising project to replace the (tired) Main Street festive lights. Within weeks, Lambeth-and-area businesses, community groups and individuals came together and raised thousands of dollars to fund not only the newly designed fixtures but also their initial installation costs.

The lights, sourced within Canada, have arrived and have passed their tests. Keep an eye out for the lights on Main St. shortly after Remembrance Day (November 11).

Congratulations and thanks to the many generous donors and to the Lambeth Rotarians who helped make this happen.

Stan Waring was welcomed into the Rotary Club of London-Lambeth on August 14, 2018!

We were lucky enough to have our esteemed past DG Doug Burnard in attendance to perform the induction along with Club President Geoff!

Welcome Stan!

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS BOB AND ADAM!!

Our July 10 meeting was a special one - the Club welcomed two new members, Bob Boyce and Adam Walden!

Assistant District Governor Sue Storie joined Club President Geoff Faul for the induction.

We look forward to getting to know Bob and Adam better and look forward to the start of their journeys here with the Rotary Club of London-Lambeth.

At our regular club meeting on July 24, the members and guests were treated to an update talk from L'Arche London's executive director Marietta Drost.

Marietta provided the Club with information about the activities taking place in the new Lambeth Gathering Place, including the Thursday morning Café that all are welcome to visit.

Club President Geoff Faul, and indeed the entire club, was pleased to present a cheque to L'Arche London for $1,000 in order to assist with improvements to sound baffling systems being installed. The Club had previously supported L'Arche with a $1,000 donation for the first part of those meeting room improvements, which had been successfully carried out through a combination of supporting donations, some hired know-how, and considerable volunteer effort to install.  And we are pleased to help again now!

For more information on L'Arche London, see their website at https://larchelondon.ca/

The following people have receive either their first or an additional Paul Harris Award in 2017.
Duncan Hobbs received a Paul Harris award for his support of our Wine and Food Fund raising event in the spring and his donation to our clubs projects.
Leroy Poole was Honoured at our 2017 Presidents Dinner for his long service to the community.
Sheila Wilkes, Moneta Little, Mike MacKinnon, Drew Annable, Hope Evenden, Eric Auzins, and Don Crawford, all received a multiple Paul Harris Awards for their contributions to Rotary.

The President’s Dinner Celebration
This makes the end of Jennifer McQueen’s year as President.  We celebrate by honouring two community members Pam Batzold and Lee Stitt with Paul Harris Fellow for their generous contributions to the community (see separate story) and Andrew Thomson with a Certificate of Thanks for his contributions to our Club.  Our Rotarian of the Year, David Brent, was also honoured with a Paul Harris Fellow for his involvement this year.
Andy Thibodeau was the guest speaker and he entertained and motivated us with his “Share Your Care” talk.
Our AG Sue Store installed our 2017 President, Charles Mossman, and his Board of Directors.
The members of this small but mighty Rotary Club of London-LAMBETH,  look forward to this coming year with enthusiasm.
Each year Lambeth Rotary honours a community member for his or her contributions to the community.  This Year we honour two members Pam Batzold and Lee Stitt.

Chief Duncan described Policing in London and the challenges that are faced by our community. London is a relatively safe city but we do have to an extent all the concerns of larger cities.

He emphasized that an ever increasing amount of police time is spent on dealing with citizens with mental problems.

Policing is a vital part of a cities needs and London’s Police force is one of the best.

Southdale Chapliancy is one of the efforts that we support.  Their directors are pleased to announce that on January 28, 2013 the Boards of Directors of the Limberlost Chaplaincy and the Southdale Chaplaincy unanimously agreed to unify effective April 1, 2013.  At that time, the new organization will be called the London Community Chaplaincy.
